Origin of Sports for All: A Sports for All Charter was published in 1975 (updated. 1992), which set out to improve access to participation in sports across the population. The charter, in fact, emphasizes that sport is a right of all citizens, regardless of their age and social group. The aims of sports for all are, therefore, prevalently social: not based on the pursuit of performance, but on health safeguard and improvement, on enjoyment, the useful exploitation of free time, the continual development of the individual, to give a sense of belonging and to foster social cohesion.
